Team Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is all about being a good cookie. It’s about helping those who so desperately need someone to fight for them. It’s about raising money and awareness for pediatric cancer research. Are you interested?
You should be . . .
Sadly, pediatric cancer will afflict nearly 13,000 children in the US each year. Cancer remains the number one disease that claims the lives of our children. Each year cancer kills more children under the age of 18 than asthma, diabetes, cystic fibrosis and AIDS combined. Yet, it remains underfunded, often ignored by many until it directly touches their lives. Why is that???
On Monday, January 24, 2011 the 6 year old boy, Liam Witt (Prince Liam the Brave), who is the inspiration for Cookies for Kids’ Cancer, lost his battle to neuroblastoma. Saying good-bye to this world should not have been his fate. No child should have to endure, let alone lose such a battle, and no parent should have to bury their child. It’s not the way life is supposed to work. Children bury their parents, parents do not bury their children. And, parents should not have to bury their precious child knowing that the research to save their child is there, the science and medical fields are advanced enough to save their child’s life, but the money is not. Lack of funding should never, ever be the reason why a life is lost, especially the life of a child.
The mission of Cookies for Kids’ Cancer is raise money and awareness through the simple concept of holding local bake sales (and other creative local fund raisers) to directly support research at comprehensive cancer centers across the country. Research that would not take place without support from private organizations and philanthropy like Cookies for Kids' Cancer.
Won’t you be part of the solution and help support our team in our efforts to bring hope and most importantly, medical treatment and support to the children who have to battle the beast known as pediatric cancer?
